For the first time in the domestic legal literature, the fundamental provisions of the theory of criminal-executive law are presented in the form of a university textbook. The principles of penitentiary law and RA penitentiary policy, the status of institutions and bodies that carry out punishments, the legal status of convicts, the procedure and conditions for the execution and serving of all types of criminal punishments, based on the RA criminal and penitentiary codes, normative legal acts, including other intra-departmental acts, have been revealed. The requirements of the international legal documents on the treatment of convicts, the achievements of the science and practice of this field of law have also taken into consideration.

All changes and additions made to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia and other legal acts regulating the execution of sentences as of September 1, 2023 have been presented.

The textbook is primarily intended for law-oriented university students and PhD students. At the same time, it can be of interest to researchers, lecturers, employees of the penitentiary system and all those who deal with the problems of punishments and their execution and serving.
