The study guide, “Sanctions in Modern International Relations,” was designed for senior baccalaureate and master’s students majoring in international relations and political science. The guide presents political science perspectives on sanctions as a political phenomenon, including their definitions, application mechanisms, as well as objectives. The guide is composed of two main parts, which can be used as separate modules in educational programs for political science and international relations. The first part contains lectures that are of a conceptual nature, providing students with knowledge on the fundamental types of sanctions and their legal and political justifications. In the second part of the guide, the study of sanctions is made more specific by examining them in the context of sanctions applied against the Russian Federation. This provides students with an understanding of the economic, political, and regional impacts of sanctions.

The guide’s contents are intended for political scientists, experts in the field of international relations, and other experts and professionals, interested in the subject.
