This textbook is dedicated to the study of economic mechanisms within the social work system. The author analyzes the interdisciplinary link between the theory and practice of social work and economics, ranging from the philosophical interpretation of the concept of "the social" to specific mechanisms for financing the social sector in Armenia.

Special attention is given to the classification of needs, the typology of goods, social service production processes, and contemporary concepts of poverty. The book provides a detailed examination of funding sources, the role of NPOs, and the influence of political ideologies on the social policy models. It explores issues of demand formation for social services, the specifics of their production in the public and private sectors, and methods for assessing the quality of social services. Additionally, the text reviews financial instruments for social protection, including the state budget, insurance, and charitable foundations.

The edition is supplemented with practical assignments and a terminological glossary. It is intended for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members of social work, sociology, and public administration departments, as well as social work practitioners.
