On the eve of the 96th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide Yerevan State University Publishing House presented the following books to the attention of the Armenian reader: Armenian Testament by Gonzalo Guarch, Stepan Pogosyans The History of the Armenian Genocide (1-3 volumes), Hrachik Simonyans On the Ways of the Liberating Fight, Vahan Bayburdyans The History of the Ottoman Empire, Styopa Petoyans Turks about Turks (1st volume).
The 2nd volume of the book urks about Turks, written by Stepan Pogosyan, Varuzhan Poghosyans monograph Assessment of the First Phase of the Armenian Genocide by French Social Thought and Historiography (the end of XIX century and the beginning of XX century), Dora Sakayans Zmyurnia 1922: the Day Book of Dr. Garabed Khacheryan (in Armenian and English), Rafik Nahapetyans Child Care Traditional Customs and Rites of the Armenians of Aghdznik, Wilhelm Baums Turkey and its Christian Minorities have been published, too.
Publishing House has published the above mentioned books during the last year, particularly the last few months. The third volume of the book Turks about Turkey is expected to be published in the framework of the state order, as well as summaries of all three volumes in English.
YSU Publishing House Director Perch Stepanyan assured that rather indifferent attitude has always been towards the works of foreign authors about the Armenian Genocide.
And according to the architect Mary Sukiasyan, who is the translator of the books Armenian Testament and Family Tree, written by Spanish author Gonzalo Guarch, the publishing of such books is very important, because there are still many countries that are not aware of what happened beginning with the late the 19th century up to the first quarter of 20th century.
Mary Sukiasyan states that Guarch has devoted his whole life to inter-ethnic wars and when he learnt of the sufferings of the Armenian people, he wrote these books. Armenian Testament is the second book of the trilogy, devoted by Gonzalo Guarch to the Armenian Genocide. The first, Family Tree, has also been translated into Armenian, and the third, White Mountain, has not yet been translated.
YSU Rector Aram Simonyan expressed his satisfaction that the love towards books is in its renaissance, and Yerevan State University Publishing House publishes books about black and white pages of our history with an amazing determination. The books presented here are invaluable for their patriotic aspiration and, indeed, the staff of YSU Publishing House deserves appraisal, as they correctly perceive the breath of time, the demand to publish new books at YSU, - said Aram Simonyan.
YSU Rector expressed his gratitude to all those who support the publication of books, in particular Kyulpenkyan Foundation, as well as individual benefactors.
In 2010 28 million AMD were allocated by Yerevan State University for publishing activities. According to the Director of Publishing House, more than 200 Armenological books have been published, which are valuable works for the specialists, occupied in the area of the Armenian studies.
