PRESENTATION OF BOOKS
The 6 volumes of the works by Nicholas Adonts have been published.

Today the presentation of the six volumes of works by great Armenologist Nicholas Adonts was held.

The event was attended by YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, lecturers, historians and students.

The first volume contains historical studies by Nicholas Adonts. The next two volumes are devoted to grammatical and philological-linguistic studies. The fourth and fifth volumes are about Armenian-Byzantine relations and publicist works by Nicholas Adonts. And the sixth volume is devoted to the researches on the Armenian Genocide.

These researches are an important contribution to the Armenian Studies and also in the field of world history.

The publication of these volumes was a hard job, but today, we have at our disposal this great edition, which has its unique place in the historiography. I want to express special thanks to Petros Hovhannisyan, who has greatly supported this initiative, - said Director of YSU Publishing House Pertch Stepanyan.

Petros Hovhannisyan also made a speech: To speak brief about Nicholas Adonts, who is one of the greatest figures in the Armenian historiography, it means to say nothing. So, I will just focus on one important fact. Before his death Adonts confessed that three greatest dreams of his life have not come true: to see independent Armenia, to edit his researches and to publish at least two volumes and to deliver lectures at any Armenian university. And as his works are the resource for inspiration, patriotism and basic knowledge for many students, we can say that his third dream has partially come true.

Dean of the Faculty of History Edik Minasyan presented some details on authors life and activities. And Petros Hovhannisyan expressed his special gratitude to his colleagues and friends.

This publication was initiated by YSU Publishing House and supported by the Armenian Division of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

A number of valuable books, published in the framework of the project Yerevan World Book Capital 2012 and devoted to the 500th anniversary of the Armenian Printing, were presented to the participants of the event.
