YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan, Director of YSU Publishing House Karen Grigoryan, Dean of the Faculty of Armenian Philology Artsrun Avagyan, Head of Chair of Armenian Literature Samvel Muradyan and other our colleagues visited Vanadzor State University on May 16. Earlier hundreds of valuable books had been sent to the library of this university by YSU Publishing House. Exhibition of books had been organized, too. By the way, this HEI has received the status of the university just recently. Formerly it was an institute.
“Just several hours ago we were in Gyumri, where we also donated books. Gyumri, Vanadzor and other regional universities of Armenia need replenishment of literature. And YSU Publishing House is not only going to donate books to these libraries, but also publish works of the lecturers of these universities,” - said the Director of YSU Publishing House Karen Grigoryan, adding that more than 300 pieces of literature, that had been sent to Vanadzor, will be of great use for both students and lecturers.
The aim of YSU Publishing House is to make available new literature at regional universities. And via the exhibitions lecturers and students of these HEI are being introduced to the new publications.
“We are glad and grateful for the valuable gift of YSU Publishing House. Today also books have a great value and educational significance and are of great importance for lecturers and students. For the last time, this restructured university had received such support decades ago, so, we are very grateful for such an attention,” – said VSU Vice-rector.
Hundreds of books, monographs, dictionaries, textbooks and manuals have been published in recent years by YSU Publishing House with the support of Galust Gulbenkian Foundation. The previously unreleased classic works by the Armenian writers have also been published and some works - republished.
“Yerevan State University has strong ties with the regional universities. And it should be noted that many of our students represent various regions of Armenia. YSU pays great attention to the cooperation with the regional universities and today we are here to congratulate together 95 years old YSU,” – said literary critic Samvel Muradyan.
Librarian of VSU Mrs. Varsine said she was impressed by the volume of books: “Often we had to disappoint our students because of the unavailability of literature. Our library stock is not a small one, but mainly there are books, published in the Soviet years. We almost did not have new books.”
VSU students had prepared music and poetry performances for the guests from Yerevan.
And this initiative of YSU Publishing House will be continued. Exhibitions-donations are also envisaged at Goris State University, Matenadaran of Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin, Central Library after Av. Isahakyan, RA MD Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan, RA MD Military Aviation Institute after Armenak Khanperyants.
Books in Russian and English languages are also included in the list of donation.
