Today, in the framework of the events, devoted to the 95th anniversary of YSU foundation, YSU organized its next donation of books. This time YSU representatives were hosted at the Central Library after Av. Isahakyan. The stock of this library was replenished with more than 300 pieces of literature, published by YSU Publishing House with the support of the Galust Gulbenkian Foundation.
YSU delegation was composed of YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan, Director of YSU Publishing House Karen Grigoryan, Chairman of YSU Student Scientific Society Mikayel Malkhasyan and other colleagues. Representatives of the Department of Culture of the City Hall of Yerevan were present, too.
The event started with the screening of a movie about YSU after which the Library Director Hasmik Karapetyan thanked YSU delegation for such a valuable donation, spoke of the friendly relations existing between this library and YSU for decades, focusing on the already implemented projects.
“YSU is among the best partners of our library, and we are proud to join these anniversary celebrations. We are immensely grateful for this splendid initiative,’ - said Hasmik Karapetyan and read the congratulatory message, addressed to YSU, on behalf of the management and readers of the library.
Then YSU anthem sounded, after which Mr. Markosyan made an opening speech, presenting some details of the visits of YSU delegation in the framework of the Book Donation initiative.
“Since the Central Library after Av. Isahakyan is one of the oldest libraries of our capital, the cooperation between Alma Mater and the so-called Library Mater is symbolic. I am sure many of our students are the readers of this library, therefore we consider it our duty to support the library’s book stock replenishment,” - said Mr. Markosyan.
Director of YSU Publishing House Karen Grigoryan presented the goal of this initiative, activities and future plans of the Publishing House, stressing that the cooperation between the university and the library will be continuous.
“Today, we present the visitors of the library quite valuable books, published in previous years, which include a number of fundamental works, dictionaries by M. Abeghyan and H. Atcharyan. I should note that such events will be often organized - each year our Publishing House will donate books to the library,” - said Karen Grigoryan and invited everyone to participate in the Book Fair, which will be held in the framework of the jubilee events, which will feature books, published by other publishing houses, too.
We should add that 120 copies of books were displayed at the library hall, which provided visitors and readers with the opportunity to get familiar with the new literature.
In the end of the event, students of another good partner of YSU - Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas, made performances.
