YSU Publishing House is taking part in the Annual Frankfurt Book Fair.

The 67th edition of the largest international book fair was opened in the German city of Frankfurt am Main on October 14. It will be open up to October 18.

Hundreds of publishing houses present their latest publications at this fair. Morethan 7100 publishers frommore than 100 countries have gathered under one roof to present their latest achievements in the world of literature. The number of visitors has already passed the threshold of 270.000.9300 accredited journalists will have the opportunity to cover the world’s largest event related to the book industry.Around1,000 authors have visited Frankfurt on this occasion.

We should note that on the first three days the fair is open to professionals. 3500 events - presentations, literary readings, meetings with authors, discussions, concerts and moreare envisaged in the framework of the “Frankfurt Book Fair 2015”. According to the tradition, this year’s fair also has a guest of honor. The initiators have chosen Indonesia.

As for YSU, this year we present more than 30 books. As 2015 marks the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, we have focused on the publishing of the books, which mainly relate to the Armenian Genocide, the Armenian Question.

Let us present some of the books, exhibited by our side. This is Professor Silva Khasapetyan’s“Genocide dictionary terms: Armenian-English, English-Armenian”, which includes only those terms that relate to the issue of genocide. In addition, Gonzalo Guarch has underlined a unique approachin his trilogy about the genocide“White Mountain”. Here we also have“Sayings about the Armenian Genocide and Armenian Question”of the famous historian Nicholas Adonts(in Armenian, English). We should note aboutthe collection of articles of a well-known publicist Alexei Jivelegov “Turkey and the Armenian Question” and the republication of Leo’s“Documentaries of the Armenian Question”.

The Armenian pavilion had a variety of books, which included publications of recent years by both state and private publishing houses. Director of YSU Publishing House Karen Grigoryan told us that the format of the organization of the fair is veryimpressive. In addition, such events serve as an opportunity to find business partners.

Karen Grigoryan said that this year foreign visitors are more interested in Armenia and the Armenian Genocide related books: “Today there are many books about Armenia, Armenians and Armenian Question, but they are mostly in our native language. We have to provide foreign readers with the opportunity to read this all in other languages (including the professional literature). The experience of our participation at this event (two timesalready) shows that the foreign representatives expectfrom the Armenian pavilion literature available in different languages. Taking into consideration this fact, soon we will initiate the publication of books in foreign languages, although in some cases ourscientific journals published in English contribute to this all.”
