The certificate awarding ceremony was held today at the Central Library after Av. Isahakyan. YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan and Head of Public Relations and Information Department Karen Grigoryan were present at the ceremony.
YSU is the winner, as around 4 thousand students of YSU are users of this library. Armenian State Pedagogical University is the second (3 thousand students) and the third is Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Bruysov (2 thousand students).
Participants were welcomed by the library director Hasmik Karapetyan, who thanked the universities for the cooperation.
“I have never agreed with the opinion that today’s young people do not read. Of course, they give preference to the professional literature, but it also has its explanation. We, indeed, have a generation, which appreciates and loves books and today’s event is the direct proof of it,” - said Hasmik Karapetyan, adding that the major part of the readers of this library are students.
Then Hasmik Karapetyan solemnly handed Ruben Markosyan the certificate.
“We are proud that our students are not only the users of YSU Library, but other libraries, too. YSU is not only willing to continue cooperation, but also to expand it. On the eve of the 95th anniversary of YSU will donate the Central Library after Av. Isahakyan copies of all the books published by the university in recent years,” – said Ruben Markosyan.
Hasmik Karapetyan thanked Mr. Vice-rector and added that their library will organize an exhibition of the books, donated by YSU to introduce this literature the readers.
Member of YSU Cultural Centre Maritsa Tilikyan participated in the cultural event, organized at the end of the ceremony.
